Hanson House - 325 E. Third (circa 1860). This
home is a magnificient example of Italian
Architecture. In the early 1900's the roof and
cupola were raised to add a third floor. This home may have been used for the underground railroad. Currently, used as apartments.

Scarritt House (circa 1865), also known a "Six
Chimneys"is located at 1025 E. George Street.
Very large living room - sitting rooms highlight the first floor of this classic Italian Victorian Home.

The Beall Mansion, 407 E. 12th St., Alton

Drummond House is located at 442 E. 12th Street (circa 1882). This home stands tall next to 412 E. 12th. Designed by Lucas Pfeiffenburger, this home has many fireplaces and the drive through portico. Truly magnificient. 442 E 12th.jpg (13931 bytes)
Haskell Playhouse in Middletown was built in
1880 for the ailing daughter of Dr. Willian
Haskell. In 1889, she was taken by diptheria.

Marsh House (circa 1835) was once owned by the president of the Alton National Bank. Renovation has changed the entry from the north side of the home. 1403 Henry.jpg (12460 bytes)
Blair House (circa 1868) is located well off the
street at 1500 Henry. This home sits where the street cars once turned around -- at what used to be the end of Henry.

Beall House (circa 1885) at 1700 Liberty is
highlighted by dramatic woodworking on the wrap around front porch. This home was once owned by the President of a tool and metal production company.

Kellenberger House at 807 Grove (circa 1855).
This home was owned by an insurance agent of the times.

Lyman Trumbell House (circa 1825) is located at 1105 Henry. Senator Lyman Trumbell wrote the Emanciaption Proclamation for his close friend, Abraham Lincoln. 1105 Henry.jpg (11707 bytes)
1007 Henry is know as Forbes House (circa
1871). Owned by the founder of a Tea and Coffee Company. The features of this home are one of the most vivid expression of the Victorian Style in Middletown.
