AG Blumenthal says he served in Vietnam. Not so according to many sources.
“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said…
“When we returned, we saw nothing like this,” Mr. Blumenthal said. “Let us do better by this generation of men and women.”
How did he think this would pass muster in the age of the internet? His opponent in the Senate race is not going to let Blumenthal off the hook.
“He was a coward to go and get five deferments and he’s clearly a liar for standing up for his own political benefit years later…It’s disgraceful behavior from someone who is clearly not qualified to serve in the U.S. Senate.”
Merrick Alpert may or may not be right about the Vietnam service. One thing is for sure, the real soldiers that gave their lives and sacrificed so much for this country deserve better.
UPDATE: Blumenthal says he misspoke on a few occasions. Seems pretty clear that it was more than a slip of the tongue.
