Seems you could not hear enough about the rising cost of fuel when George W. Bush was in office. When the price was $1.73 all hell broke loose on Capital Hill. Heads needed to roll. Profits needed to be confiscated. Gasoline prices at the pumps have topped $3.00 per gallon, but the national media outlets are nowhere to be found as predictions for $5.00 per gallon are on the horizon. Larry Elder has a good piece titled $5 Gas Predicted Under Obama — What, No Pitchforks?
In 2007, when the average national price ranged from $2.17 to $3.22, then-Sen. Barack Obama demanded that the Federal Trade Commission investigate Big Oil for “price manipulation.” In 2008, presidential candidate Obama urged the Justice Department “to open an investigation into whether energy traders have been engaged in illegal activities that have helped drive up the price of oil and food.”
The silence speaks volumes…
