The $27 Billion Man, aka Mayor Bloomberg, seems to know the soda ban won’t accomplish anything. He must not be concerned with the additional cups making their way to the landfills even though he wants to ban Styrofoam too. He even believes people are flying their private jets to Kennedy airport in order that they can be whisked away to the local homeless shelters? This man is so out of touch with the reality of everyday life, he is hard to take seriously anymore. Problem is this whack job has real power!!!
Here are just a few of his latest idiotic statements…
“The nice thing about the soda thing is it’s really just a suggestion. So, if you want to buy 32 ounces, you just have to carry it back to your seat in two cups. And maybe that would convince you to only take one, but if you want two you can do it. I think government’s job … is to give you advice, not to force you do things.”
Ban on Styrofoam… Too bad he is wrong about recycling.
“One product that is virtually impossible to recycle and never bio-degrades is Styrofoam … something that we know is environmentally destructive and that may be hazardous to our health, that is costing taxpayers money and that we can easily do without, and is something that should go the way of lead paint.”
The response…
Steve Russell, vice president of the American Chemistry Council, a trade group, said recycling polystyrene was something to look at instead of a ban. “The technology exists to recycle polystyrene foam foodservice right now.”
Forced Exercise… Probably Not? He’s not sure if it is appropriate for government to force people to exercise?
“Exercise is great for you, but how do you convince people to do it? And should you force them to do it? Probably not.”
Does anybody really think private jet owners are flying to NYC to take advantage of Homeless Shelters?
“You can arrive in your private jet at Kennedy Airport, take a private limousine and go straight to the shelter system, walk in the door, and we’ve got to give you shelter.”
