During his Hampton University Commencement Address, our President showed he is a true tyrant and hypocrite in a very eloquent manner. Let’s review a few of the statements he made as reported in the news:
You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter.
How many times has the President himself been guilty of misinformation and probably lies. Look no further than his pledge to abide by campaign finance limits. The lie about not having any lobbyists in this administration. What about the promise to end earmarks? What about the promise to stop producing legislation that was so long no one could read it? What about the promise to clean up the cabinet that is now littered with tax cheats? Did he not say health care would not add to the deficit? Did he say the stimulus bill would keep unemployment below 8%?
Next, the President showed he was unqualified to make any of the claims he just stated…
With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation.
If you don’t know how to use the very devices you say cause the problem, then maybe you should educate yourself before attacking. Unless, of course, the substance of your argument is not as important as demonizing and ridiculing your enemy, Mr Alinksy. Let’s not forget the President is addicted to his Blackberry. It’s OK for him, but not OK for you. Just do what he tells you and everything will be OK.
To top it all off, he goes on the quote Thomas Jefferson and add this little gem…
What Jefferson recognized… that in the long run, their improbable experiment — called America — wouldn’t work if its citizens were uninformed, if its citizens were apathetic, if its citizens checked out, and left democracy to those who didn’t have the best interests of all the people at heart.
It could only work if each of us stayed informed and engaged, if we held our government accountable, if we fulfilled the obligations of citizenship.
Maybe President Obama is more concerned with his brand of truth and propaganda. Maybe he is more upset because the impact of his policies is widely available to all the citizens now that the stranglehold the main stream news had over us is gone. The public is engaged more than ever. The most recent elections prove we are holding them accountable. Maybe the public knows exactly who does not have our best interest at heart. The public is definitely not apathetic. Maybe that is the real truth he is concerned about.
